Automatic Clearing House (ACH) Services

First State Bank is an originator for ACH debits and credits. This automated service provides you convenience and accuracy by replacing paper-based transactions with more efficient electronic transactions. Your company's payroll can be electronically deposited into your employees' personal banking accounts at any financial institution. You may also authorize us to accept debits and credits into your account. This service can help eliminate costly delays.

ATM / Debit Cards - MasterMoney

With a First State Bank MasterCard debit card, you have access to your money at thousands of Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in Kansas and Missouri, all across the nation, and all around the world. Wherever you are, your money is as close as the nearest ATM displaying the CIRRUS, MasterCard, Pulse, InterCept or most other ATM network decals.

For ATM Transactions: Your debit card is simple and easy to use. Just insert your card in the ATM or swipe it through the ATM card reader and then enter your PIN number. The ATM will guide you through the transaction of your choice:

  • Withdrawal of funds from checking or savings accounts
  • Balance Inquiries
  • Transfers of funds between accounts

For store transactions, save yourself the hassle of check writing. Your debit card can be used to make purchases at any store location displaying the MasterCard logo. Select your preference of either the "credit" or the "debit" option. (The "credit" option will require a signature; the "debit" option will require the PIN.) Make your selection, check out in just a few seconds with your debit card, and be on your way.

Your First State Bank debit card is a valuable link between you and your money anywhere or anytime, emergency or play.

Cashier's Checks

A Cashier's Check represents guaranteed funds and is the much safer equivalent of cash. The Cashier's Check is ideal anytime there is an exchange of ownership interests or property title for the purchaser's payment. Selling a car or boat? Before you hand over the signed and notarized title, make sure you get paid. Payment by cash is fine but not really safe. Payment by Cashier's Check may be a much better alternative.

Cashier's Checks from First State Bank are available to bank customers in exchange for cash or other guaranteed/collected funds.

A word of caution: Cashier's Checks are not subject to a stop payment order and replacement requires a lost instrument affidavit and may require a lost instrument bond from your insurance provider. These items should be treated with special care because they may be difficult to replace.

Only our lobby tellers issue these items and a small fee is charged.

Christmas Club

Christmas Club accounts are a popular program and a convenient way for you to build savings for the holidays. Many of our customers have found that very small periodic sacrifices can gain a great benefit later on. New Club accounts are opened beginning the first week in November, in your choice of a $5, $10 or $20 weekly payment programs. These are non-interest-bearing accounts. Early withdrawal or late payment fees may apply.

Collection Services

Wouldn't it be great if every check you received was paid the first time through the system? Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Some checks are returned for insufficient funds or for other reasons. So what do you do to conveniently collect your money?

One method of attempting collection of those returned items is to bring the check to us for collection. We will send the check and a collection letter to the bank on which the check is drawn. Typically we ask the bank to hold the check for 10 days to see if there are, anytime during that term, sufficient funds for the payment of the item. The bank holding the item will either return to us an official check if the item can be paid, or they will return the check to us at the end of the holding period.

We charge a per item fee for this service. (Note: The receiving bank may also charge a fee for monitoring the account and issuing their official check.)

Direct Deposit

For security and convenience we accept Direct Deposit of your Social Security, VA benefits, pension benefits or paychecks! There's no need to rush to the bank to make your deposit or worry about lost or stolen checks. With Direct Deposit, you know your money is safely in your account! We will be happy to instruct you on how to get this set up.

Money Orders are a convenient, inexpensive, and safe method of payment used by many of our customers. Money Orders provide a valuable proof of payment. As the purchaser, you keep one copy of the Money Order for your records. The payee-endorsed original, once paid, is kept at the bank for an extended period of time. • Credit Card Numbers
  • Death Certificates
  • Divorce Decrees
  • Family Historical Info

Stop Payment Orders

If you have ever lost a check or if you have used a check to purchase a product or service that turned out to be misrepresented or defective, you know the importance of a Stop Payment Order. Call us as soon as you become aware of a problem, give us the necessary information, and we will add the stop payment order to our records.

There is a modest fee for each stop payment order requested. While most banks offer stop protection for six months, we keep our written stop orders active for one year. Our bookkeepers and tellers can help you with this service.
